Here are some ways to avoid scams, rip-offs and up-sells when visiting your service center:
1. Checking what's wrong with your car is like going to the doctor for a check-up, always get a second opinion. When doing this, however, make sure that you do not share with the second mechanic what the first mechanic has told you.
2. Take time out to read the service report. Make sure that they do not put any additional replacements on or make procedures without your authorization. Remember that, before the mechanics can do anything to your car, they should seek your approval first.
3. If a mechanic is doing an up-sell, make sure that you check around first before giving your go-signal. Keep in mind that you can always do this some other time.
